Subhra Guha is regarded as one of the finest female exponents of Indian
classical music. Her voice is similar to that of a Western mezzo-soprano,
and her knowledge of rare ragas and compositions is exhaustive. Subhra
performs regularly in India and abroad, most notably in North America,
across Europe, and throughout Asia. Helen Wussow, the dean of Lifelong
Learning and an associate professor of English at SFU, is one of Subhra
Guha’s disciples. She will provide a 45-minute overview of the Hindustani
musical tradition before the concert.Lecture: 3:00-3:45pm | Performance:
